Cold temperature can destroy the taste and aroma of basil leaves. If stored in the refrigerator, the basil will wither and becomes dry. It is also not good to store basil together with other food because it can take in the smell of it and lose its natural essence and flavour. It is best to store basil in room temperature or in a glass filled with water to keep its natural taste and prolong its freshness.
Tomatoes are best in room temperature instead of keeping it inside the refrigerator. Cold temperature removes the zesty and rich flavour in vegetables. Membranes inside the plants are also broken down in cold temperature, which makes it flavourless, soft and pulpy.
Bread is also one of the food that shouldn't be kept in a refrigerator. Cold temperature can have removed moisture on some food, and that includes bread. It eliminates the freshness of the bread and makes it dry and crumbly in texture.
It is essential to maintain high-quality coffee beans to have that fantastic aroma from coffee. Temperature from the refrigerator is too cold for storing coffee beans. As per the National Coffee Association, coffee beans should be kept at room temperature only and away from moisture, light and heat as well. It is best to store coffee beans in a gastight container instead.
